Ingredients you will need

ingredients for rice krispie treats with chocolate chips recipe
  • Rice Krispies Cereal
  • Unsalted Butter (room temperature)
  • No Stick Baking Spray
  • Mini chocolate chips
  • Pure vanilla extractย
  • Large marshmallows (or mini marshmallows if you prefer!)

Tips for making these delicious rice krispie treats!

Prepare a 9 X 13 pan by lining the bottom of the pan with wax paper and then spraying it with non-stick spray (We love the new Baking Spray!)

In a large saucepan place the room temperature butter and melt it over medium heat. Stir in the mini marshmallows (or large marshmallows if thatโ€™s what you have) letting the melted marshmallows soften. See tip below about not using high heat!

Gradually stir in the rice krispies cereal, using a greased spatula or spoon.

When the ingredients are well mixed, again using a greased spatula, press the cereal mixture into the 9 X 13 pan, spreading it evenly and smoothing it across the top.  We really like Wiltonโ€™s baking pans, because they come with a plastic lid, making it an airtight container!

Then using a greased spatula, spread the cereal mixture into the bottom of the pan thatโ€™s been prepared with wax paper and non-stick spray. But be careful not to pack the cereal mixture in too tightly.

Drizzle the top with melted chocolate for an extra kick of flavor!

  • Then using a greased spatula, spread the cereal mixture into the bottom of the pan thatโ€™s been prepared with wax paper and non-stick spray.ย
