Tips for making this recipe

The texture of these rolls is light and fluffy like my Overnight French Toast Casserole {Cinnamon Raisin!}. But there are a few tips to keep in mind:

  • Serve these yummy cinnamon rolls warm. This is what makes them light, fluffy, and delicious. Warm sweet rolls are the best. Simple cinnamon rolls hot and fresh form the oven make a slow day better.
  • Keep the texture in mind. Remember that Bisquick is a biscuit mixture with baking powder, so the texture is very similar to baking powder biscuits, but oh so easy to bake with!
  • Don’t overmix the dough. Keep it simple when mixing the dough and refrain from mixing it too much.

Time Saver Tip:

  • Prep the cinnamon rolls dough ahead of time and bake them when you’re ready. The steps of this recipe don’t have to happen all at once!
  • You can also freeze the dough for later, too! This makes for a great gift idea for someone who is recovering from an illness of pregnancy. All they have to do is pop the cinnamon rolls in the oven to bake, and enjoy!

How to make the best Bisquick Cinnamon Rolls

Step One: Mix the dry and wet ingredients

Mix the brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl and set aside.

Next, mix the milk, 2 tbsp granulated sugar, and combine Bisquick (make your own!) in a large bowl.

Step Two: Blend and roll out the dough

Use a pastry blender to mix.

On a flat surface with some Bisquick mix spread on it (I love to use my pie crust sheets for this), place all of the dough and roll it so that it is well coated.

Shape the dough into a ball and knead it well about 9 or 10 times.

Step Three: Shape the dough

Flour your rolling pin and shape the dough into a rectangular shape- Roll dough until you achieve the desired shape, about 14 X 9 if you can. Turn dough over carefully if you need to. (the size of your rectangle will determine how many cinnamon rolls you are able to slice!)

Step Four: Add the cinnamon roll mixture to the dough

Spread the softened butter over the entire surface. Sprinkle sugar mixture evenly over the entire surface of the dough and then add the raisins. Try to get the raisins evenly placed, but donโ€™t worry if they arenโ€™t.

Thatโ€™s the fun of baking, right?

Step Five: Roll the dough into a log

Now you need to roll the dough into a fairly tight log. Starting at the long end, roll the edge of the dough carefully until it is completely rolled up.

Step Six: Cut the dough

Using a very sharp knife or dental floss (really!), cut each cinnamon roll into 1 ยผ inch thickness. Place each slice cut side down in the baking pan.

Step Eight: Glaze

To Make the Glaze

In a separate bowl (a medium bowl works here), mix the powdered sugar and milk together to make a smooth glaze. Spread it over the warm rolls and let it drip down over the sides!

How To Store

You can store the cinnamon rolls in an airtight container for about three (3) days at room temperature.
