Can I use canned apple pie filling?

Yes, absolutely. Canned pie fillings are great in hand pie recipes too.

Can I make these ahead for a party?

Double (or triple!) the recipe to serve at a party. Make the taco shells ahead of time, then put them together the day of the party.

What other toppings work well? (Ice cream, cheesecake filling, caramel drizzle.)

You could use ice cream instead of whipped cream, add cream cheese to the apple pie filling to make a cheesecake, drizzle chocolate or butterscotch sauce over all.

Can I make them gluten-free? (Yes, use gluten-free tortillas – tie back to “easy gluten free desserts.”)

Yes, you can use gluten free tortillas to create a delicious gluten free dessert.
