My first food processor was by Cuisinart and given to me as a gift and I used it over and over for 30+ years! It just gave up the ghost on me last year, and I had to buy a new one.

Consumer Reports Small Food Processor Winner for 2022!

Cuisinart Custom 14 DFP-14BCNY food processor – This is #4 on our list, and recommended by Consumer Reports. Yay!

This Cuisinart 720 watt food processor was very good in overall performance and has a review where a customer had used hers for 15 years!

So kind of like what I was saying earlier, that I had my Cuisinart for 30+ years! In addition to the stainless steel, it comes in colors too. Red, blue, umber, white, and white/gold.

You can check the current price here.✅

These features were all rated Excellent by Consumer Reports:

  • Chopping was excellent
  •  Slicing was very good
  •  Shredding was very good
  •  Pureeing was good
  •  Grating was very good
  •  Noise was excellent
  •  Wide feed tube for larger items

My Top Recommendation

So after saying goodbye to my beloved Cuisinart, I too shopped around and checked out many of the small food processors discussed in this guide. And I ended up buying the Hamilton Beach (#1 on the list). Now it’s a great little appliance, well priced and can do the basics.

BUT

It’s very noisy, and I honestly don’t think it makes pie crust dough very well – and that’s one of the main things I do with MY food processor. I wanted to be honest, because even though it is a number one bestseller with Amazon, my top recommendation is:

The Cuisinart Custom 14 DFP-14BCNY food processor– #4 on our list and recommended by Consumer Reports. I know you will be happy with this amazing little appliance!

Food Processor FAQsor things to think about and look for when shopping for a small food processor for your kitchen.

What’s the best size of food processor to buy?

The food processors with the larger bins are the most efficient. You know the old saying you can go up but not down? The mini food processors are popular, but you want a food processor that is going to give you the best value and to me that’s anything in the 12 to 14 cup range.

What attachments do I need?

In addition to the FP blade, a slicing attachment with different blade sizes is great to have.  Really helpful when chopping onions, veggies, making spirals or coleslaw.

What recipes can I make in a food processor?

You can make anything from smoothies, dips, chopping veggies, grinding nuts, to whipping up a batch of pie crust.

Can I put the bin and attachments in the dishwasher?

I would check your user manual, many of them say you can.  But here’s the thing. The bin and attachment parts (not the blades) are plastic right? And something tells me that the combination of the high heat of the dishwasher and the wear and tear on the plastic aren’t a good combo.

Which food processor is best?

I stand by my recommendation for the Cuisinart Custom 14 DFP-14BCNY food processor –in the mid price range, and highly rated and recommended by Consumer Reports!

I really hope that this guide has been helpful for you and that you’re now ready to choose your own Food Processor! Thanks so much for stopping by.

Best, xo
